CAPE offers semi-annual American language and culture programs for university students who wish to improve their English listening and speaking skills through "real life" situations requiring them to use both formal and informal English. Lectures, discussions and topical readings introduce participants to aspects of American culture, such as the American way of thinking, the educational system, and student life in the United States.

By experiencing cross-cultural living and participating in intercultural activities, participants have the opportunity to develop international friendships. Field trips to places of historical, cultural and educational interest enhance the students' learning and understanding of Hawai`i and the U.S.

The 2008 INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS will be held as stated below. Most program activities will take place on the campus of the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. Housing accommodations are arranged for program participants at the East-West Center (EWC) dormitory. Double occupancy is $30 per night and a single room is $60 per night. The fee for the entire program is $1,665, which includes the registration fee, tuition, accomodations (double occupancy), and textbook. Airfare, meals and incidentals are at the participant's own expense. The single occupany rate will apply if you do not have a roommate or a roommate cannot be arranged for you.

Interested persons may fill out a secure form to pre-register and to request an application packet. The application form should be sent with a payment of $1,665 (double occupancy), which includes the non-refundable $100 registration fee.
