CAPE offers semi-annual American language and culture programs for
university students who wish to improve their English listening and
speaking skills through "real life" situations requiring
them to use both formal and informal English. Lectures, discussions
and topical readings introduce participants to aspects of American
culture, such as the American way of thinking, the educational system,
and student life in the United States.
By
experiencing cross-cultural living and participating in intercultural
activities, participants have the opportunity to develop international
friendships. Field trips to places of historical, cultural and
educational interest enhance the students' learning and understanding
of Hawai`i and the U.S.
The 2010 INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS will be held as
stated below. Most program activities will take place on the campus of
the University of Hawai`i at Manoa.
Housing accommodations will be provided at the Pagoda Hotel for workshop participants at a special rate, or at East-West Center dormitories. CAPE makes every effort to keep housing costs to a minumum for participants. Please see the program menu to the left for more information about housing for the Winter, Spring, and Summer programs.
